English Language Arts
This course is designed to have students think critically by reading, writing, thinking, and listening. The primary focus of this course will be the development and mastery of effective reading strategies to increase fluency, and enhance both comprehension and appreciation of academic and real-life reading situations. The program encompasses the areas of reading, writing, spelling, speaking and listening. Our Curriculum is based on the PA Core Standards and contains the reading of both fiction and nonfiction texts.

Mathematics
This course is part one of a three-course middle school series intended to bridge the gap from elementary mathematics to Algebra 1. The program is designed to motivate students, enable them to see the usefulness of mathematics in the world around them, enhance their fluency in the language of mathematics, and prepare them for success in Algebra, Geometry and Statistics.

Science
This course deals with important principles and concepts that serve collectively as a framework for understanding and interpreting the general characteristics of life evident in every organism. Emphasis will be given to practical implications and everyday applications that are meaningful to the student. It will focus on understanding, maintaining, and enjoying our environment. Major ecological issues and problems related to humans' existence will be stressed.

Social Studies
This course will explore the government, geography, history, and economics of the Western Hemisphere, with emphasis on Canada, Latin America and South America. The concepts stressing the disciplines are woven throughout the program. The development of an accurate mental map of the world and the establishment of a basic vocabulary will be focal points for building a foundation for understanding the world of the past, present, and future. Our Curriculum is based on the PA History, Geography, Economics, and Civics and Government Standards.
